The paper machine has an estimated production capacity of 30,000 tonnes and will utilise recycled paper. Mats Berencreutz commented on the opening of SCA’s first Greenfield tissue operation in Russia:

“With the opening of this new Greenfield tissue mill, we can now realise our growth plans for SCA’s European tissue operations.  We are one step closer to growing our business in Russia and now have all the elements in place to do so. We have an impressive manufacturing footprint throughout Europe.  In addition, we have highly skilled and committed personnel which will allow SCA to expand from our current base.”

Governor Dudka met with SCA's leadership team to discuss future collaboration between SCA and the Tula region administration. The meeting supported the investment agreement signed between SCA and the Tula region administration during the first Tula International Forum in November 2006 (which as previously announced) is estimated at around 93 million Euros.

Governor Dudka has supported SCA’s investment projects at both Sovetsk and Veniov where a new Personal Care factory is under construction. Thomas Wulkan, SCA Personal Care Europe President launched the start-up trial for SCA’s first diaper machine. SCA will produce Libero baby diapers and TENA incontinence care products at the new site.  The first production phase is planned for completion in the second quarter of 2010 (and as previously announced) is estimated to cost around 50 million Euros.

The Sovetsk mill is SCA’s second tissue factory which produces hygiene products in Russia and the first investment project in the Tula region, employing 250 people. The Sovetsk Tissue Mill construction began in 2007 and is the first Greenfield paper mill in Russia for the past 30 years, which currently operates two production lines.

SCA in Russia
