Karoline Lenhult is the mother of three behind Libero’s new stretch baby diapers. She perfectly enjoys working with children’s products.
Karoline often experiences surprised enthusiasm when she relates that she works with designing baby diapers. “”Do they design them?” is the most common question to her.
Karoline is a product designer and her greatest passion is creating patterns. She views it as a given that everyday products such as diapers should have an attractive pattern design. A variation of patterns is just as popular today as in the 1970s.
Karoline is a graduate product designer from the School of Design and Crafts at Gothenburg University in Sweden. She is married to the love of her life, with whom she has three children. The family lives in Älvängen, thirty kilometers north of Gothenburg.
Karoline perfectly enjoys working with children’s products, particularly since she became a mother. A new world opened for her, filled with items in acute need of redesign. Issues related to esthetics, gender, tradition and who is really the consumer (child or parent?) recur continuously in her work. Diapers, for instance, involve more than just creating a stylish baby diaper. If it is not functional, no one will want it. Distinct design can guide the parent to put on the diaper properly.
Karoline Lenhult is also in the limelight with the “NYNNA” collection for Ljungbergs, a Swedish textile producer. “NYNNA” is a pattern collection for children and adults that provides inspiration to look, sing, laugh and choose together. [“Nynna” is Swedish for “humming.”] The collection springs from traditional Swedish nursery rhymes. Far from traditional children’s design, the patterns are sweeping and brilliantly colored.
Barbapapa is her role model; “Barbapapa is a socially competent man, with the fantastic ability to transform himself into what the situation requires and a good parent that always does fun things with his children. And, what’s more, he’s pink!”
