Father’s Day: Only 15 percent of men buy diapers for their babies

According to SCA’s Hygiene Matters Report 2011 only 15.4 percent of men in buy diapers for their babies, while 67.5 percent of women do it. As Father’s Day is celebrated on June 19 in the USA, UK, Canada, France, China and many other countries, it’s good to remind us that gender equality is still not fully developed when it comes to child care.

At the same time 26.7 percent of men say that their women are buying the baby diapers, while only 3.2 percent of women answered that their men are baby diaper shopping. So it looks like someone is not saying the truth.

Don’t forget about male incontinence

Hygiene Matters has asked guys about urine loss. So many as 10 percent declared that they have accidental loss of urine – from a few drops to a larger amount. A study conducted by the International Consultation on Incontinence in 2009 stated that 5% of men over 35 experience urine leakage at some point in their life.

Both numbers indicate that incontinence is something to be taken serious. So Father’s Day could be again a good opportunity to empower men to talk about this issue.

*Hygiene Matters aims to raise awareness of th econnection between hygiene, health and wellbeing among decision makers, experts and the general public around the world. The survey was conducted in Australia, China, France, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, the UK and the US. 7,000 persons participated.
